Crown Prince to open annual Shoura Council session on Wednesday

On behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman will deliver on Wednesday the King’s annual speech, marking the opening of the activities of the fourth year of the 8

the session of the Saudi Shoura Council. This was announced by the Shoura Council Speaker Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh.

In a press statement, Al-Sheikh said that the King’s speech will outline major domestic and foreign policies of Saudi Arabia. The Shoura Council looks forward to listening to the King’s speech, he said while noting that the Council is preparing to take it as a guideline for its future activities.

The speaker expressed his pride, as well as that of the Shoura Council members, officials and employees, on this annual occasion when they have the honor of listening to the annual address of the King when it will be delivered on his behalf by the Crown Prince this year.

Al-Sheikh pointed out that the annual address of the Monarch constitutes a road map that the Shoura Council is following at a steady pace to outline the features of the next phase that the Council is dealing with through the lofty contents at domestic and foreign, as well as regional and international levels. He noted that this would contribute to achieving the hopes and aspirations of the Saudi leadership and the citizens.

Dr. Al Sheikh praised the great support and sagacious guidance that the Shoura Council receives from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to carry out the work entrusted to the Council at the supervisory and legislative levels.

The speaker highlighted the continuous efforts made by the Council in aligning with all government agencies in entire fields, to boost further the wheel of development, nation building and growth through its extensive studies and discussions of annual reports on the performance of government agencies and draft laws. This is in addition to a number of topics that are referred to it through following a consultative practice featuring transparency and candidness.

“This practice produced the greatest impact on its decision-making process during its past years in pursuit of what is in the interest of the nation and the citizens. Ever since the announcement and launch of the Saudi Vision 2030, the Shoura Council has been working in accordance with the Vision’s aspirations and goals, keeping pace with the inspiring achievements within the framework of the historical development phase that the Kingdom is witnessing through the Council’s activities, deliberations and decisions,” he added.
