The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) on Tuesday raised the rain status alert and thunderstorms to “warning” in the regions of Makkah, Madinah and Al-Baha.
The alert is considered a warning from thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rains and activity in surface winds, high waves, in addition to hail and torrential flow, as it would also lead to a lack of visibility until 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The rain warning will apply to cities and governorates in the Makkah region, including the holy capital, Jeddah, Taif, Al-Kamil, Al-Laith, Al-Shaabiya, Bahrah, Al-Jamoum, Khulais, Asfan and Rabigh.
In the Madinah region, the holy city of Madinah, Al-Hankiya, Badr, Khaibar, Yanbu, Al-Mahd, Wadi Al-Fara’ will be affected.
In Al-Baha region, the warning applies to Al-Baha, Al-Aqiq, Al-Qura, Baljurashi, Bani Hasan, Al-Mandaq.
The NCM noted that the moderate to heavy rain accompanied by hail will also hit parts of the Eastern region (Al-Sharqiya) and the Northern Borders.
Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Education in Jeddah has announced suspending in-person classes at Jeddah, Rabigh, Khulais schools upon reports by National Center of Meteorology and to ensure the safety of all. Classes on Wednesday are scheduled to be held remotely through the Madrasati platform for all students. School personnel and staff in education offices will work remotely.
