SASO delegation visits China to enhance partnership & product quality

Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) Governor Dr. Saad bin Othman Alkasabi has visited China with the aim of strengthening the partnership between the two sides and enhancing product quality.

Dr. Alkasabi highlighted the Kingdom’s success in advancing its economy to become one of the most competitive in the world, as outlined in the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030.

The Governor also highlighted SASO’s product safety initiative, which contributed to a 24 percent improvement in the Saudi conformity index over the past six years. Consequently, the percentage of products meeting standards in the Saudi market has increased to 82.17 percent.

SASO also organized a series of introductory workshops in various Chinese cities, including Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Beijing. The workshops were actively attended by individuals interested in the industrial sector and exporters of products to the Saudi market. The workshops aimed to explain the technical requirements for exporting to the Kingdom and introduce the initiative and its associated programs, such as the Saber e-platform.

“As part of the visit, meetings were held with Mr. Tian Shihong, the vice-minister of State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and the administrator of Standardization Administration of China (SAC), as well as Mr. Shi Yonghong, the vice president of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME),” as per the statement.

The discussions covered various topics of mutual interest, including strengthening partnerships with stakeholders in China, and provided information about the Saudi technical requirements. The SASO delegation included Mr. Abdurrahman Al-Harbi, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to China, and Mr. Saleh Al-Ghurair, the commercial attaché of the Saudi embassy in China.
