Saudi Arabia on Friday expressed its condolences to Algeria following a passenger bus accident in Boumerdes Province that left several people dead and injured.

The bus crashed into a ravine on Friday, killing at least 27 people and wounding dozens more, the country’s health minister said.

In a statement, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed its “sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy” to Algeria’s government and people over the tragedy.

The ministry affirmed Saudi Arabia’s solidarity with Algeria in the wake of the accident and wished those injured a speedy recovery.

Separately, King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sent messages of condolence to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune following the bus accident, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The two leaders expressed their sympathies to the president, the families of the victims and the Algerian people, and wished the injured a swift recovery, SPA added.
