About Company
Dar Al‑Handasah began in Beirut in November 1956, founded by four engineering professors from the American University of Beirut. Their shared vision was to build a world-class consulting firm rooted in regional expertise. In 1958, the company completed its first major project—the Kuwait Power Station. Over time, Dar introduced a partnership model that offered equity to senior employees. This approach strengthened commitment and ownership. As a result, the firm expanded rapidly across the Gulf, Africa, and beyond.
In the 1980s, Dar evolved into a global consultancy through strategic acquisitions, including Perkins&Will in Chicago, Penspen in London, and other respected firms. This bold move shaped Dar into a powerhouse capable of delivering comprehensive engineering, architecture, planning, and project management services worldwide.
Today, Dar manages 54 offices across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe. The company employs nearly 9,000 professionals. Furthermore, its teams completed over 4,500 projects for almost 950 clients worldwide. These projects together exceed $540 billion in total value. Dar designed and delivered Abraj Al-Bait Towers and the Haramain High-Speed Railway. It also developed the Penang Prai River Bridge and Lusail Sports Arena. In addition, the company built several major university campuses across the region.
Dar offers multidisciplinary services, including:
Architecture and urban planning
Civil, structural, and mechanical engineering
Transportation and water infrastructure

Additionally, geospatial and remote sensing teams deliver GIS, digital twin, and smart-city solutions for modern planning needs.
As a founding member of the Sidara Collaborative, Dar integrates globally while preserving its unique heritage. This network brings together specialist firms like Perkins&Will and TYLin to foster innovation and drive ambitious projects.
Moreover, Dar integrates sustainability into every project it undertakes. The team actively supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals. These goals include clean energy, safe water access, healthy cities, and effective climate action.
Driven by values like Excellence, Responsibility, Courage, Connectivity, and Empowerment, Dar treats each project as unique. It collaborates closely with clients to craft context-sensitive, impactful solutions. Global clients benefit from a consistent approach rooted in local insight—enabling quality, timeliness, and ethical delivery.
Dar Al‑Handasah remains focused on being the preferred consultant for large-scale global projects. Furthermore, it actively leads bold initiatives in energy transition, smart-city planning, and digital infrastructure. It also prioritizes human-centered design in every project.
